Coursework Website - Research

Research should contain 5-10 examples (Cover and Contents) which I like.
When together, think about relations with audience and representations. Analyse everything
List of 10-20 things which in spotted

Need to do this with websites as well

Look at how the websites and magazines converge with each other. How do they go together

Coursework Website - Planning

Coursework Website - Link

https://oysterboy02.wixsite.com/mysite

The link that works in the toolbar is "celebrity".
The top 10 Halloween films is a link to a YouTube video and the twitter log in button takes you to the twitter log in page.
On the ATLAS celebrity page, the link to the gallery of Alfie photos works and when you get onto the page you zoom out in order to view all of the photos

Coursework production - Research

Need quite a big range of examples of the type of media i am going to be producing.
Post links to the websites used for research
Make a list of codes and conventions in the genre chosen

Codes and conventions
·         Image – This image should reflect the audience and also the style of the magazine. The main image is usually a mid-shot and should reflect what some of the contents are about.
·         The name of the magazine is either clearly identifiable or clearly visible. More often than not the title will have an image slightly overlap it. This is to limit the amount of empty space on the cover.
·         The photographs will most likely have been shot in a studio, usually in a medium close up or mid shot.
·         There will be direct address from the front cover to the reader
·         The title will……. use a trademark or a unique font, Will usually be one or two words, fills the width of the cover, or Is in the top left corner of the page.
·         Buzz words such as “free” and “exclusive” which captures the reader’s attention and makes them want to buy the magazine.
·         Necessities such as the barcode, date and issue number

Coursework statement of intent

Magazine
In my magazine covers, I am attempting to create a feeling of style as well as also a feeling of relatability for the target audience of “Fun loving 16 – 25-year old's”. I will do this by dressing my models up in stylish and modern looking clothing. I will also put them in a neutral background with moderate lighting with a gel over them to add feeling. The models will also be in a casual pose which welcomes in the consumer with a sense of welcoming. I am using examples from entertainment magazines in order to replicate the success from their covers onto mine. An example of me doing this is with the masthead, on EM’s front covers they always have the same masthead just in different colours depending on the background of the image on the cover. I am going to do this on both of my pieces in an attempt to recreate an EM background.
I asked some of my friends what they would want from a magazine cover as I think that they fit the target demographic of fun loving 16 – 25 year old's. They said that they would want the cover to feature young celebrities and feature current information on affairs which affect them the most.
A convention of Entertainment magazines in general is the fact that the cover focus’ on the models face normally in the centre of the page. In order to achieve this, I am going to make sure that my models face is a centre piece of the cover and that there is nothing covering it.

Website
With my website I am using “entertainment weekly” as a model for what I am styling my website on. For my website i intend to use similar ideas
However, on top of being informative on the appropriate topics I want my Atlas website to hold a level of style and modernism that will appeal to my target demographic. I will achieve this by use of the layout and colours of the website’s pages. Like other websites, I will make sure that there is a space for members of the magazine to ask questions and also report any problems with the website. The video that accompanies my website will fit the tone of the website along with entertaining the target demographic.

How i have created a set of cohesive products
My cover and contents pages will be cohesive due to the fact that i am going to use photos from the same photoshoot for the cover and contents page, this then adds the feeling of familiarity between the 2 products. I shall do this for both of my C&C pages.
In order to create digital convergence between my magazine and my website I will make sure that there is a call to action on either the contents or the cover page. I will make sure that it is noticeable and clear but I also don’t want to take away any space that could be used in order to make the overall page look better. I don’t intend to include any Easter eggs in my website due to the fact that I want to keep a somewhat formal tone to my website alongside the fun-loving side.
